EA Turns CASUAL Gaming into On-the-Go Fun with Pogo Island

 

Five Puzzle Favorites from Pogo.com Debut on the Nintendo DS

 

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. – January 23, 2007 – Get ready to unwind, de-stress and have some fun!  Electronic Arts (NASDAQ: ERTS) revealed Pogo™ Island, a unique title featuring the five most popular games from Pogo.com - Word Whomp™, Poppit!™, Phlinx, Tri-Peaks Solitaire and Squelchies. Available on March 26, 2007, Pogo Island is exclusive to the Nintendo DS™ system.  Each game is easy to pick-up and hard to put down, allowing even the most casual gamer to enjoy hours of stress-free fun. EA’s Pogo.com™ is one of the leading casual gaming sites with, 15MM monthly unique visitors in the US and it is also the stickiest top 100 online property in the US[1].

Above and beyond the five puzzle games is a fun and unique meta-game that sets players on an island-wide adventure mission to reunite with stranded Pogo mascots. Along the way, players will collect tokens which can either be translated into bragging rights amongst peers or transferred to Pogo.com*, where players can reap the benefits of being a token guru.

 

Game descriptions below:

 

Word Whomp –  Whomp adorable gophers and spell as many words as you can from a given set of letters before the clock runs out.

Poppit! –  Just pop and go!  Release hidden "prizes" in this puzzle favorite by popping groups of two or more balloons of the same color.

Phlinx – Create groups of colored stones, collect ancient power-ups, and make your way to the bonus round in this action puzzle.

Tri-Peaks Solitaire –  A fun and fast-paced solitaire game where you remove cards to uncover tokens and powerup bonus cards.

Squelchies – In this puzzle game, match Squelchies by color to release them from the board.

EA Unleashes Need for Speed Underground; New Twist on Legendary Series is First Racing Game with Console vs. PC Online Play

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Nov. 17, 2003 - Electronic Arts today announced that Need for Speed™ Underground has shipped to retail nationwide under the EA GAMES™ brand. The latest installment in EA's legendary racing franchise, Need for Speed Underground is now available for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system, the Xbox™ video game system from Microsoft, the Nintendo GameCube™, and PC.

Need for Speed Underground thrusts players into the adrenaline-filled world of urban racing, challenging gamers to win cash, cars and respect as they put their driving skills to the test in their own fully-customizable urban exotic supercar. The game features 20 of the most sought-after tuner cars from manufacturers including Nissan Motor Co., Honda™, Toyota™, and Mitsubishi Motors. Gamers will be able to customize their cars with hundreds of aftermarket parts from 52 manufacturers, including NOS®, Sparco®, HKS®, and more.

Featuring a thrilling sense of speed created by a team led by an OSCAR®-nominated special effects expert, the game features more than 100 events including circuit races, drag races, drift races and more. Need for Speed Underground also supports online play for the PlayStation 2 console (requires Broadband connection and Network Adaptor for the PlayStation 2) and PC (requires Internet connection). The game lets player take their customized cars online and compete with up to three other racers online. It is also the first racing game to allow PlayStation 2 and PC gamers to compete in head-to-head gameplay online.

Need for Speed Underground, which was developed by EA Canada, is rated "E" (Everyone) by the ESRB and retails for $49.95 on console platforms, $39.95 for PC, and $29.95 for Game Boy Advance.
