Upcoming DVD Includes Never-Before-Released Videos Including 'It Girl' Featuring Paris Hilton NEW YORK, Dec. 5 (PRNewswire) - In the spirit of never giving up on something you believe in...John Oates has re-released his highly acclaimed and hard to acquire first solo CD, Phunk Shui. Originally released in Aug. of 2002, the album was the victim of the untimely demise of its original label...and consequently became an instant collector's item, cherished by fans and for the most part overlooked by the general public. Behind the phenomenal success of Hall & Oates' "Do It For Love" this past year...John Oates has decided to resurrect his solo effort. John Oates states, "There was too much heart and passion wrapped up in this recording to just let it die on the vine because of bad business." Oates bought back the rights to the project and has released it on his own PS Label, distributed by Red Distribution. "At least now, if somebody wants to hear the music...it's available, it's too important to me to not just forget about it," Oates adds. As a follow-up to the album, Oates will release a DVD in early May 2008. The DVD will feature a live sold-out, solo concert taped last December at Historic Wheeler Opera House in his home town of Aspen, Colorado. Oates comments, "The night had a lot of magic and who knows when I'll do it again..." In addition to the live concert footage, highlights of the DVD will contain three never-before-released music videos from Phunk Shui: "It Girl" featuring Paris Hilton, "Color of Love" filmed on a Hollywood rooftop and "Little Angel" shot in the Rocky Mountains near John's hometown of Aspen, Colorado, as well as some "behind the scenes" footage of the making of the Phunk Shui album. "There's some cool personality stuff as well..." Oates states, like the bonus segment showing John's other passion, Telemark skiing in the Rocky mountains. Oates adds, "This has been an incredible year and after getting all this material back out into the world, I can close this musical chapter of my life and get on with the next thing."
