'Dr. Zhivago'
Has Most Romantic Movie Moment of All Time, Says Survey By Blockbuster
DALLAS, June 25, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- A recent survey by Blockbuster
found the all-time "Most Romantic Movie Moments" are from films
made long before today's heartthrobs like Josh Hartnett and Matt Damon
knew what romance was. America's top romantic movie moments are from "Dr.
Zhivago," (1965) "Out of Africa" (1985) and "Ghost"
(1990).
The survey
included five films from the American Film Institute's (AFI) "America's
Top 100 Greatest Love Stories" released June 11 in a television special.
Blockbuster will offer free lists of AFI's "100 Years ... 100 Passions"
through in-store displays through Sept. 3, 2002, as well as on blockbuster.com
.
"It
still amazes me to see that a film like 'Dr. Zhivago' remains fresh and
exciting after almost four decades, even to viewers who are younger than
the film," says Jim Notarnicola, executive vice president and chief
marketing officer for Blockbuster. "The incredible talents of couples
like Omar Sharif and Julie Christie or Robert Redford and Meryl Streep
are what make movies such a compelling form of entertainment."

now ... Here's looking at you kid."
