Academy Award(R) Nominated Documentary 'Winged Migration' Flies Over to STARZ! Only Two Months After DVD Release

ENGLEWOOD, Colo., Dec. 4 /PRNewswire/ - STARZ! soars into action with the exclusive television premiere of the Academy Award(R) nominated "Winged Migration." The beautifully shot documentary premieres on Monday, December 8 at 5:50 p.m. (et/pt), an unusually short two months after it was released on DVD.

Described by this week's TV Guide as "astonishing and uplifting," the 90-minute documentary, which was shot over 3 years on all seven continents, is a true "birds eye view" of the earth. According to Variety's Paris correspondent, 225 feet of film was exposed for every foot that got into the movie. Shooting close to 400 miles of film, French filmmaker Jacques Perrin and a crew of 450, including 14 cinematographers, dive with cranes, swoop into the Amazon forest among macaws, and hang above frozen landscapes where penguins breed. There is much to be learned from this never-before-attempted look at the Earth's four principal migration routes.

The surprise sleeper hit of the indie film world last year made close to $11 million domestically at the boxoffice.

In addition to the December 8 premiere on STARZ!, "Winged Migration" will have additional flights throughout the month.
