New York City December 11, 2003 Singer-songwriter Edie Careys
forthcoming release, When I Was Made, will be featured nationally at Borders
Books & Music listening stations. Carey was also selected as one of
the Grand Prize winners of the 2nd annual Chick Singer Night songwriter

When
I Was Made, the latest release from Edie Carey, was chosen by Borders
Books and Music to be featured nationally at listening stations during
the months of January and September 2008. The CD, due out January 20, is
aptly titled not only for the myriad ways Carey weaves themes of creation
throughout the ten songs but also for the way she has reinvented herself
as an artist. With the addition of banjo, pedal/lap steel, and dobro,
Carey lends some southern comfort to her folk-rock sound.
Compromise
(Be A Poet About It), a track from When I Was Made, was chosen last
month from ten finalists as the Grand Prize winner of Guitar Centers
2nd annual Chick Singer Night songwriter contest titled The Producer
Project. As her prize, Carey will spend a day recording with Grammy
Award-winning producer and engineer, Elliot Scheiner (R.E.M, Beck, Steely
Dan, Van Morrison, etc) at the Hit Factory in New York City. More information
is available at http://www.chicksingernight.com.
Winner
of numerous songwriting awards, Edie Carey was also a finalist in this
years Rocky Mountain Folk Festival Songwriter Competition. She has
performed at The Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City and on Ed McMahon's
"Next Big Star" ("Star Search"), and has had her songs
featured on The WB's "Charmed" and MTV's "Road Rules.
Touring internationally since 1999, she has shared stages with Norah Jones,
Leo Kottke, Ani DiFranco, Lucy Kaplansky, and Sandra Bernhard.
Edie
Carey will embark on a national tour with Melissa Ferrick in September 2008. The tour will take the artists from coast-to-coast, beginning in
Atlanta in mid-February through the west coast in early March.
