Saliva
at House of Blues - Orlando, FL
with special guests God Head and School For Heroes
September
11, 2003
As
most Americans know today is a day none of us will ever forget. Some lost
family or friends for those; of us who didn't lose a loved one or a dear
friend the pain of this day weighs heavy in our hearts. With that said,
I didn't know what to expect from tonight's show.
But thanks to all three of these great bands the pain of this day was
eased just a little bit. All three bands poured their hearts out on the
stage at House Of Blues and gave those of us lucky enough to be in the
audience something else to remember on September 11th.
Saliva
- Took the stage and instantaneously the House Of Blues exploded with
excitement. When Josey Scott scolded artists who have made unpatriotic
comments in the past the crowd responded with an overwhelming roar of
approval.
Personally, I find what they have to say a breath of fresh air and to say Saliva is one of the most patriotic bands I have ever seen is an understatement. These guys made everyone in the audience tonight proud to be an American.
In
a night of emotions, one of the more emotional moments was when Saliva
played "Pride," and Josey dedicated it to all those who
lost their lives on 911. When Chris started jamming on his Red, White
and Blue guitar fans started waving flags and I saw many a fan shedding
tears. I don't think it's a stretch to say no one at tonight's show
is going to forget this moment. I know I won't.
The show was enhanced by the outstanding acoustics at the House of Blues and one of the most creative lighting shows I have ever seen. Highlights included wonderful renditions of "Rest In Pieces," "Click, Click Boom," and "Always," which never sounded better. Saliva ended the show with a bang playing "Your Disease," from their "Every Six Seconds," album. This was one of the best concerts of the year. I feel Saliva has taken performing live to a whole new level, which I hope every band tries to exceed. |
God Head - The instant they hit the stage they impressed me with the intensity of their show.

Lead
singer Jason Miller has a stage-presence unlike any I have seen before.
Mike Miller is one of the best guitarists I have ever seen live and
when you add in the incredible bass playing of Method and the superb
drumming of Ken Jay you have the recipe for a great show. Highlights of their set included an extraordinary rendition of The Beatles' classic Eleanor Rigby, (which sent my head spinning) and their explosive single "The Hate In Me," which nearly blew the roof off of the House Of Blues. If God Head decides to make a live CD I hope these two songs are part of the complication. |

For those of you who didn't see the show, God Head will be back in Orlando soon and I highly recommend seeing them in concert. As soon as their new tour dates are released we will have the information online on the Bands on Tour page.
| School
For Heroes - Started the night off with an enjoyable set that
at times bordered on spectacular. They have a mixture of Emo and Screamo that is easy on the ears and leaves you wanting to hear more. School for Heroes is one of Orlando's best bands. They are one of the reasons the music scene in Orlando is one of the best in the country. Review by Michael Montes - Orlando Florida Guide - All rights reserved. |
