THE BOUNCING SOULS / HOT WATER MUSIC TRUE BROMANCE TOUR KICKS OFF FEBRUARY 10, 2004.

When speaking to Greg Attonito of The Bouncing Souls about their recent Canadian tour with Hot Water Music, he gleamed, “The greatest part of it for me was that I haven’t been around so many people that I trust in one place at a time, and that is an amazing thing. People that mutually love music the same way you do rejuvenates your love of people and music, and that’s what it did to me.” Spring of 2002, the scent of love and beer was in the air when The Bouncing Souls and Hot Water Music played 4 shows together in Florida (the home of Hot Water Music); after constant nudging from fellow “bromantic” Matt Skiba (Alkaline Trio) declaring to both bands that they were “made for each other.” Many times over their dreams of sweating on the same stage were dashed by the reality of pirate life. Finally united for a brief summer fling across Canada, The Bouncing Souls and Hot Water Music have since spent every waking/not recording moment plotting and scheming to get to third base in this behemoth love affair, one for the history books: The True Bromance Tour!

The Bouncing Souls have been busy writing, recording, and releasing Anchors Aweigh, and are presently touring in support across the US, Europe, and most recently Japan. Anchors Aweigh is not only heavier and darker than past Bouncing Souls releases, but also candidly open and honest in its content and delivery. Since it’s release on August 26th, The Bouncing Souls have been on the road, singing songs from the road and about the road. Roaring on Anchors Aweigh are anthemic classics brought on by infectious sing along, grab-your-best-friend-and-raise-a-glass, don’t-ask-why-or-how, just-can’t-deny, must-recognize-life songs, in true Souls fashion.

Since the release of critically acclaimed Caution in 2002, the Hot Water Music band has toured relentlessly and driven home the point that music should be more about substance and skill and less about red hair dye, wooing new fans and filling the hearts of old diehards alike. Jason Black of HWM says, “We don’t operate in regular society anymore, we’re like carnies” when referring to Hot Water’s brutal schedule when on the road. Hot Water Music are making a quick stop in Australia to tour with Alkaline Trio and Thrice just prior to setting sail upon The True Bromace Tour. Their current focus of writing and preparing to record their next album, due out this fall, is sure to be rocket-fueled by these hopelessly bromantic jaunts!

Contrary to the prima-donna laws of rock bands, these two groups share crew, gear, vehicles, rooms, food, beer, along with stages and set-times. However, while in Canada this past summer, the bands participated in some cliché rock star behavior; racking up some rather hefty tabs and fines at some local bars and hotels. Grown men engaging in full-on Greco-“Broman” wrestling matches and behaving as if each night was their last EVER together can make for quite the spectacle. And so, on marquees across America you’ll no longer be seeing The Bouncing Souls on one line and Hot Water Music on the other; henceforth, let it be seen as The Hot Bouncing Water Souls Music Band. One can only imagine what would happen if this couple ever consummated the love affair!

Operating in their unconventional ways, doing it “their way” for so long might have made for a ‘clash of the titans’ so to speak, but instead, “we’ve stumbled upon a hybrid of punk rock of which the world has never seen before,” says Chris Wollard of Hot Water Music. The Bouncing Souls and Hot Water Music have long been known individually and now collectively as being unique and independent through their musical lives and continuing adventures. The longevity of their careers and unwavering strength in their convictions is now inspiring a new generation of punkers on their quest for ALL! Following their hearts and hauling their beers to the ends of the earth, together forever and integrity intact, it is a perfect union, a true bromance. Come to the dance and bring a date…they did!
