Guitar master Buddy Guy celebrates Chicago’s electric blues with Live at Legends. The 16 double-live album series from Buddy Guy will mark Pirate Entertainment’s debut release and the club’s fifteen year anniversary.

January 8, 2004

As Chicago’s foremost blues club Legends celebrates 15 years of superb roots music, electric blues master and club-owner Buddy Guy prepares for his always-anticipated annual January residency. Since the club’s opening in 1989, the venue has hosted blues’ most critically acclaimed musicians, and the days’ hottest up-and-comers. Life on the road has kept Buddy Guy himself from performing at Legends as regularly as he used to. But each January Guy keeps the tradition alive with a long run of epic performances.

This year’s confirmed shows are January 9th-11th, 14th-17th, 21st-25th, 28th-31st; sixteen nights that promise scalding city blues that only Buddy Guy himself can dish out. In years past, musical friends including Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughn have joined Guy on stage. The special guests are always a surprise, and this year is no different in that respect. What is different is that for the first time ever, Buddy Guy’s annual Legends residency will be recorded in its entirety and made available for sale.

Dubbed Live at Legends, the sixteen-show series is sure to become one of blues music’s most essential recording projects. The internationally recognized guitarist will perform musical material that spans his half-century career, and Pirate Entertainment will use state-of-the-art, mobile recording technology to capture every show, then offer them for sale to the audience immediately following each performance. Every CD in the series is a limited edition release and will also be available on-line at piratebootlegs.com, while supplies last.

Pirate Entertainment is an innovative start-up company that produces, markets, and sells exceptionally high quality live recordings, in both audio and video DVD format. With the release of Live at Legends, its debut project, Pirate Entertainment has already solidified a stronghold within the burgeoning niche of live concert recordings. Under the leadership of entertainment industry and business veterans Keith Walner and David Turner, Pirate offers the fantastic vision, the business savvy, and the invaluable relationships that will finally bring the art of “bootlegging” to the masses.

Show and ticket information are available at buddyguys.com. Live at Legends information available at piratebootlegs.com.
