Grammy-Winner Michelle Branch Headlines RadioShack MLS Cup Halftime; Live on ABC Sports, Cup Halftime Hosted By Daisy Fuentes on Nov. 23

NEW YORK, Nov. 12, 2003 (PRNewswire) -- Grammy- and MTV Award-winning singer- songwriter Michelle Branch will be featured during the RadioShack 2003 MLS Cup Halftime, broadcast live on national television on Sunday, November 23, MLS Executive Vice President Mark Noonan announced today. The RadioShack MLS Cup Halftime, hosted by entertainer and RadioShack celebrity spokesperson Daisy Fuentes, adds to the excitement of Major League Soccer's eighth Championship contest, which is to be televised nationally from The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif., at 3:30 p.m. (ET), live on ABC Sports.

"The RadioShack MLS Cup Halftime represents a state-of-the-art celebration of soccer with distinctive and original entertainment in an artist like Michelle Branch," said Noonan. "RadioShack's commitment to bringing MLS fans the best in sports and entertainment culminates with what is sure to be a fantastic show."

Owning the longest running Billboard Top 100 record of the last 18 months (82 weeks) with The Spirit Room, Branch segued from her own record to a Grammy Award winning collaboration with Carlos Santana prior to beginning work on her latest release, Hotel Paper. The 2001 release of Michelle Branch's major label debut The Spirit Room ushered in an entirely new movement in pop music, busting open the door for the new crop of females who write and play their own songs, as Branch represented the lone female artist on the charts who wrote and performed all the songs on her record. The results spoke for themselves: more than 2.5 million records sold, a Grammy Award, an MTV Viewer's Choice Award on the basis of 4 top 10 hits and sold-out tours with Sheryl Crow, a smash duet with Carlos Santana and an invitation from the Dixie Chicks to tour arenas this summer.
