November 19, 2003 -- Pete Yorn, Rami Jaffee (the Wallflowers) and Marc Dauer (Jukebox Junkies)--the founders of Trampoline Records--are proud to announce the labels first two signings, bringing them closer to their goal to bring good music to the world. The first is the St. Louis band NADINE, whose STRANGE SEASONS is available now at independent record stores nationwide and on the labels website (www.trampolinerecords.com). Theyve previously released four critically acclaimed albums on Undertow/Glitterhouse Records. Produced by Nadine and Matt Pence at Echolab Studios in Denton, TX, STRANGE SEASONS is the band's most consistent, expansive record of the band's six-year career. The album came together with an interesting twist. As explained by keyboardist/guitarist Steve Rauner, "Most of what was used to make this record was manufactured before 1970. Paste magazine recently commended STRANGE SEASONS as one that " finds the quintet expanding their horizons. Take the Beatlesque melody and guitar solo in Bad at Goodbyes, or the bittersweet Jayhawks sadness of Better Off Now, Fools and Rocking Chair. Intimate, poignant and earthy, Adam Reichmann's voice sounds as vulnerable as the lyrics, while Jimmy Griffin and Steve Rauner's guitars suggest resilience. Superior barroom rockers mix with quiet tear-jerkers a la Neil Young, but the whole thing rings true. In the end, Nadine finds its own way through STRANGE SEASONS with a smart blend of influences - staying honest, writing close to the bone, and never forgetting to let the music speak for itself." While the St. Louis Post Dispatch proclaimed: The album presents the group at an important nexus, waving goodbye to the alternative-country sound of its previous three albums and toward an emphasis on rock, hooky pop and perhaps a hint of twang thrown in for good measure. The track Different Kind of Heartache can also be heard on the Trampolines GREATEST HITS VOL. II compilation, which is available now exclusively at Barnes & Noble music locations nationwide and on the labels website. Previously unreleased material from Liz Phair, Pete Yorn, Jukebox Junkies, Dan Wilson of Semisonic and Chris Stills is also included on the album, as well as a stirring rendition of Julians Lennons Too Late For Goodbyes by The Wallflowers. Actress Minnie Driver makes her recording debut with the heart-wrenching self-penned Everything In My Pocket, which was produced by Marc Dauer and features Rami Jaffee on piano. Next up for Trampoline will be the November 21 release of THE HANG UPS self-titled album. It was produced by Brad Kern, who engineered Semisonic's hits "Closing Time" and "All About Chemistry." Dan Wilson, lead singer of Semisonic, also added his production skills to a few songs on the album. This is the Minneapolis bands fourth after having released their two albums and one EP on Clean/Restless Records. 1999s SECOND STORY (produced by Don Dixon and Mitch Easter, who worked with R.E.M. on their Murmur, Reckoning and Chronic Town albums) was described by Rollingstone.com as a lovely work of art, rare in these days when we keep being told the guitar doesn't count for much any more. While Spin hailed: Minneapoliss unremittingly sweet 60s popsters The Hang Ups reached the end of the alt-rock rainbow--a place where the Velvets and Simon & Garfunkel made nice in a bejangled haze that could shame like-minded escapists from Ivy to Papas Fritas its a world of endless autumn and memory-laden bliss. THE HANG UPS Where Were You Last Night? can also be heard on Trampolines first compilation album, GREATEST HITS VOL. 1, which came out in 2002 and is also available at Barnes & Nobles music locations and on the labels website. It includes previously unreleased material by Pete Yorn, Jukebox Junkies, Pete Droge, The Minus 5 (featuring Scott McCaughey and Peter Buck from R.E.M.), Rusty Truck (led by acclaimed Rolling Stone photographer Mark Seliger and featuring Jakob Dylan of the Wallflowers on backing vocals), Gary Jules, Jeff Trott and Ethan Johns. The album concludes with Sake Sushi Orchestra, a trio comprised of Rami Jaffee, Mario Calire and Greg Richling of the Wallflowers, performing Impo-core music, a cross breed of improvisational fuzoid rhythms blended with bluesy raucus tones of powerhouse 60s garage according to the albums liner notes. THE HANG UPS will be performing at First Avenue in their hometown of Minneapolis on November 21 to celebrate the albums release. New tour dates for Nadine and The Hang Ups are currently being confirmed.
