IRVING, Texas, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ - Comcast has announced that thousands of viewers will receive local news and syndicated programming, as well as CBS network programming in state-of-the-art high definition television (HDTV) on KTVT-TV (CBS 11) beginning today. KTVT is the Viacom-owned and operated CBS affiliate in North Texas. Critically acclaimed shows such as Everybody Loves Raymond, CSI, CSI: Miami, Two and a Half Men, and Survivor are among the numerous network programs now available in high definition format. To receive the game in high definition, Comcast Digital Cable customers must have an HDTV set and an HD- enabled set-top box, provided by Comcast. "We are thrilled to be able to offer our customers the opportunity to see the Super Bowl in high definition television which is the next best thing to being there," Comcast's Regional Senior Vice President of the Southwest Region Ann Montgomery said. "CBS 11 continues to provide the viewers of North Texas with the best possible broadcasts, and adding HDTV on Comcast shows our commitment to that goal," said Steve Mauldin, President and General Manager of CBS 11 and KTXA-TV (UPN 21). HDTV technology is a new standard of television featuring video that is clearer, sharper and more vibrant than previous video transmission systems. The service is available for customers with an HDTV-capable television set utilizing an HD-enabled digital cable set-top box provided by Comcast.
