Academy Award(R) Winner Tatum O'Neal ('Paper Moon,' 'Rescue Me'), Jenna Dewan ('Step Up') and Ashley Benson ('Days of Our Lives') to Star in The Lifetime Original Movie, 'Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal,' A Riveting Tale of Girls Gone Wild

Based on a True Story of The Real-Life 'Mean Girls'

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Lifetime Television has ordered production on the Lifetime Original Movie, "Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal," starring Academy Award(R) winner Tatum O'Neal ("Paper Moon," "Rescue Me"), Jenna Dewan ("Step Up") and Ashley Benson ("Days of Our Lives"), it was announced today by Tanya Lopez, Senior Vice President, Original Movies, Lifetime Networks. Based on a true story, "Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal" follows the story of a gutsy young teacher who fights to end the reign of misbehavior without consequence by five beautiful and well-connected cheerleaders who are given carte blanche to do as they please at school. The movie will premiere in summer 2008 on Lifetime Television.

"The real-life story of these cheerleaders shocked many when the story broke, not only for their racy and inappropriate behavior, but also for the inaction of the school's administrators and parents," said Lopez. Adding, "We hope this movie reminds parents how important it is to set limits on their children."

In "Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal," Brooke Tippit (Benson), captain of the cheerleading squad and daughter to Principal Lorene Tippit (O'Neal), and her group of friends known as the "Fab Five," constantly disobey school rules and disregard teachers while administrators turn the other way. But when Emma Carr (Dewan), a bright-eye, optimistic young teacher joins the faculty as the new cheerleading coach, the girls discover they are in for quite a challenge when Emma doesn't let them get away with breaking the rules as they are use to. The outrageous antics of the clique quickly escalate from skipping and disrupting classes to extreme partying, posting suggestive photos of themselves on the internet, bullying and other self-destructive behavior. Hoping to protect the girls from endangering themselves and damaging their futures, Emma asks for Principal Tippit's support in disciplining the girls, but is blindsided with a request for a resignation instead. Frustrated, Emma risks the end to her teaching career by breaking the news of the scandalous conduct of the "Fab Five" and administrators to the local and national media.

Tatum O'Neal garnered worldwide recognition as the youngest person ever to win an Oscar(R) for Best Supporting Actress for her role in the 1973 classic "Paper Moon." She went on to star in well-known films such as "The Bad News Bears," "International Velvet," and "Little Darlings." Additional film credits include "Little Noises" and "Basquiat." Her television credits include a recurring role on the FX series "Rescue Me" as 'Maggie Gavin,' Tommy's (Denis Leary) foul-mouthed, hard drinking sister. She also had a starring role on My Network TV's "Wicked Wicked Games," in the role of 'Blythe,' a scorned woman who seeks revenge on the man who abandoned her.

Jenna Dewan is best known for her starring role in the hit dance movie, "Step Up." She also starred in the horror movie, "Tamara" and appeared in "Waterborne," "Take the Lead," and "The Grudge 2." Dewan's additional film credits include "Love Lies Bleeding" with Christian Slater, "The Six Wives of Henry Lefay" and "The Jerk Theory." Prior to her film work, Dewan was a dancer, working with performers such as Justin Timberlake, N'Sync, Sean Combs, Toni Braxton, Janet Jackson, Celine Dion, Pink and Missy Elliot.

Ashley Benson most recently starred in "Bring It On: In It to Win It" and is recognized for her role as 'Abigail Deveraux' on the long-running daytime soap, "Days of Our Lives." Benson has also appeared on "The OC," "7th Heaven," "Scrubs," "The West Wing" and Lifetime's "Strong Medicine." Her feature film roles include "13 Going on 30" and the upcoming "Got a Room," opposite William H. Macy. Benson also stars in a music video for recording artist NLT.

"Fab Five: The Texas Cheerleader Scandal" is produced by Orly Adelson Productions in association with Fox Television Studios for Lifetime Television. Orly Adelson (Lifetime's "Odd Girl Out") serves as executive producer, Jonathan Eskenas ("Ruffian") is co-executive producer and Bob Wilson is producer. Tom McLoughlin (Lifetime's "The Staircase Murders") directs from a script written by Teena Booth (Lifetime's "A Little Thing Called Murder").

Fox TV Studios is a program supplier to the major U.S. and international broadcast and cable networks. The studio's current series include the Emmy-winning "The Shield," and "The Riches" for FX; "Burn Notice" for USA Network; "Saving Grace," starring Oscar(R)-winner Holly Hunter, for TNT; "The Girls Next Door" for E! Entertainment Television; the late-night "Talkshow with Spike Feresten" for FOX; and "Crowned: The Mother of all Pageants" for The CW. Through Regency Television, a joint venture with New Regency Films, series include "New Amsterdam" and "The Return of Jezebel James" (from "Gilmore Girls" creator Amy Sherman-Palladino) both premiering in March 2008. FtvS' international format production division currently is in various stages of production on formats for Europe and Latin America. 'The Hollow Men' Take Absurdity to New Heights in an All-New Sketch Comedy Series Premiering Thursday, March 10 at 10:30 P.M.* on Comedy Central(R)

NEW YORK, March 8, 2005 /PRNewswire/ -- In the tradition of "Monty Python" and "The Kids In The Hall," but with their own unique voice, "The Hollow Men" take sketch comedy to absurd new places in this half-hour series premiering Thursday, March 10 at 10:30 p.m. on COMEDY CENTRAL. Packed with a minimum of 12 comedy segments per episode, "The Hollow Men" is a rapid-fire show featuring outrageous situations from a smart, unexpected point of view.

The Hollow Men (a reference to a TS Eliot poem of the same name) consists of four regular guys from England: David Armand, Nick Tanner, Rupert Russell and Sam Spedding. Episodes feature a mix of location and live studio audience performances, showcasing the quartet in free-wheeling musical numbers, recurring segments with unusual characters (many in drag) and the Hollow Men's clever take on such situations as the workplace, the space program, high school reunions, dating and much, much more. Encore presentations of "The Hollow Men" will air Thursdays at 12:30 a.m.

The Hollow Men first received critical acclaim for their live sketch show at Edinburgh Festival in 2001 and 2002. They were also the recipients of the prestigious Jury Award at the 2003 US Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen, CO. It was there that COMEDY CENTRAL executives caught their live show, and immediately signed the foursome to a pilot deal. Soon, the group was chosen by Variety as one of the top "10 Comic Acts to Watch" in 2003 and they began performing material at COMEDY CENTRAL Stage in Los Angeles, while working on their pilot and, ultimately, six episodes of "The Hollow Men."

Specializing in sketch, character and visual comedy, The Hollow Men have been regular performers on the London circuit for five years, and have taken four shows to the Edinburgh Fringe. In 2002, they also enjoyed a sell-out run in New York, where they returned in 2004 for another successful run at the New York British/Irish Comedy Invasion. The Hollow Men have been featured on BBC 2's "Edinburgh Comedy," and have written for and appeared in various TV shows such as "Absolutely Fabulous," "My Family," "The Sketch Show," "Dead Ringers" and "Beast and Happiness."

"The Hollow Men" stars and is written by David Armand, Nick Tanner, Rupert Russell and Sam Spedding. Scott Tomlinson is executive producer. His credits include "The Andy Dick Show," "The MTV Movie Awards" and "Cedric The Entertainer Presents." Gary S. Mann serves as executive in charge of production for COMEDY CENTRAL.

VH1's 3rd Annual GRAMMY Awards Poll Says Usher Will Be Yelling 'Yeah' at This Year's Ceremony on Sunday, February 13

Brush Up on This Year's Nominees With VH1's '2005 Grammy Nomination Special' Hosted by Aamer Haleem Premiering Wednesday, February 9 at 8 Pm (ET/PT)*

NEW YORK, Feb. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Looks like Usher, Tim McGraw and Kanye West may want to clear some shelves for GRAMMY Awards that will be given out on Sunday, February 13, according to a recent VH1 poll.

The three artists came out on top in the marquee categories in VH1's 3rd annual GRAMMY Awards poll of adults 18-49. VH1 commissioned a telephone poll of a random national sample of 470 men and women between the ages of 18 and 49 and asked who they thought would take home GRAMMY Awards for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Respondents were also asked if they had purchased music by any of the Best New Artist nominees.

The VH1 poll's most intriguing findings include:

-- Usher was far and away the biggest winner for Album of the Year and
Record of the Year, outpacing the nearest competitor by at least a 2-1
margin in both categories.

-- This year's breakout hip-hop star, Kanye West, barely edged out
Maroon 5 and Gretchen Wilson in the Best New Artist category.

-- Kanye West and Maroon 5 might be positioned for long and successful
careers in the music industry. Among the Best New Artist nominees,
respondents were most likely to own records by these two new acts.

For those who aren't on a first name basis with Usher, Kanye and Alicia, VH1 will prep its viewers on everything they ever wanted to know about the nominees on VH1's "2005 Grammy Nomination Special" Premiering on Wednesday, February 9 at 8 pm. Hosted by VH1's Aamer Haleem, the show will run through all of the nominees for Record of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist. Legend of the Christmas Tree Ship Comes to Life on The Weather Channel(R)

Special Holiday 'Storm Stories' Episode Tells Tale Of Century-Long Chicago Tradition

ATLANTA, Nov. 15, 2004 (PRNewswire) -- A ship loaded down with freshly cut spruce trees, its deck covered with festive holiday decorations. The captain jovially welcomes children and their families aboard to select that perfect tree that will greet them Christmas morning. For more than a century, this scene has played out along the Chicago waterfront, first aboard 19th century schooners, now aboard modern-day Coast Guard vessels. It's all part of the legend of the Christmas tree ship, guided by a man who died at its helm, carried on by the wife and daughters determined to honor his legacy, and embraced by a city that refuses to let the tradition die. On Sunday, November 28, The Weather Channel shares this wonderful story as it premieres "The Christmas Tree Ship: A Holiday Storm Story" at 9:00 PM (ET/PT).

"As with the best holiday stories, 'The Christmas Tree Ship: A Holiday Storm Story' touches the heart and calls to mind the special magic carried in the spirit of the season," said Patrick Scott, president of The Weather Channel Networks. "This story reminds all of us here at The Weather Channel of the families gathering and sharing special times together, and just how important our forecasts are in helping them plan for their travels and their time together."

The story begins with Herman Schuenemann, a mariner in the lumber trade whose business combined with his love of Old World traditions leads him to sell Christmas trees from the deck of his ship docked along the Chicago River. In time, his wife and three daughters join him in the annual enterprise, bringing their holiday cheer to the thousands of Chicagoans who welcome the season with a visit to the Christmas Tree Ship.

As its popularity grew, the practice of selling trees from the ship took on increasing importance to Schuenemann's business, and at the end of a rough year in 1912, he needed the financial boost the sale of the Christmas trees would bring. Sailing from the Michigan shore to return to Chicago, Schuenemann couldn't know that it would be his last trip.

Caught in gale force winds and laden with thousands of trees, Schuenemann's ship, the Rouse Simmons, strained in Lake Michigan's turbulent waters. As the gale turned into blizzard conditions, the crew struggled to keep the schooner afloat. Rescuers searching the following day found no sign of the boat, or of any wreckage. The Rouse Simmons was gone.

Knowing what her father would want, the eldest daughter, Elsie, immediately rented a ship to be docked along the Clark Street Bridge and set to selling trees from that ship to the people of Chicago. For that and twenty years after, his wife and daughters continued the legacy that Herman Schuenemann had started in the late 1800's.

Years later, the U.S. Coast Guard resurrected the tradition of the Christmas tree ship, loading one of its own icebreakers with trees cut from the forests of northern Michigan and giving them away to needy families from the decks of the boat docked at historic Navy Pier in Chicago. So now, more than a century later, wide-eyed children are again invited to step onto the deck of a majestic sailing vessel and select the tree that will greet them Christmas morning ... and the legend and tradition of the Christmas tree ship is introduced to another generation.

Produced for The Weather Channel by Towers Productions out of Chicago, "The Christmas Tree Ship: A Holiday Storm Story" features Rochelle Pennington, author of The Historic Christmas Tree Ship (2004) and a children's book on the story, as well as paintings of the ship by Charles Vickery.

This year, a Coast Guard vessel loaded with freshly cut Christmas trees from northern Michigan will dock at historic Navy Pier in Chicago from December 3-5, handing out the trees to some of the city's neediest families.

After its premiere on November 28, "The Christmas Tree Ship: A Holiday Storm Story" will re-air several times the following week on November 30 at 3:00 PM (ET/PT), December 2 at 12:00 PM (ET/PT), December 3 at 9:00 PM (ET/PT), December 4 at 1:00 and 4:00 PM (ET/PT), and December 5 at 12:00 and 5:00 PM (ET/PT). It will also encore on Christmas Eve at 8:00 and 11:00 PM (ET/PT) and once more in 2004 on December 30 at 8:00 and 11:00 PM (ET/PT).
