'In Wine Country' Makes Debut on NBC 11 Sunday, January 25, 2004. In Wine Country Expected to Continue Strong Ratings Successes of Previous Programs Highlighting the Unique Beauty, Character of Bay Area SAN JOSE, Calif., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ - In Wine Country makes its debut Sunday, January 25, at 6:30 p.m. on NBC 11, offering Bay Area viewers an inside look at the places and people that make the area's wine regions the unique destination next door. In Wine Country will air in the time slot of the former Wine Country Living, a Bay Area favorite that established an enviable track record of outstanding programming and ratings wins. Mary Babbitt, one of the founders of the former Wine Country Living, will continue as host of the new In Wine Country. "We're excited about bringing this new show to the Bay Area. We will continue to tell the kinds stories our viewers have enjoyed, but with even more about the people and places that make up California's wine country," Babbitt said. "Every week, we'll inspire, inform, and share our passion for our unique Bay Area lifestyle." In the two years since it premiered, Wine Country Living has attracted a large and growing audience. In the latest demographic ratings from Nielsen, Wine Country Living's share of Adults 25-54 grew 300 percent compared with the prior year. NBC
11 continues to gain viewers and win prestigious awards. The audience
for the station's newscasts is the fastest growing in the Bay Area. The
11 p.m. newscast on NBC 11 is the top-rated news program in its time period.
NBC 11 recently received seven Associated Press Television and Radio Awards
and twelve Bay Area Press Photographers awards in recognition of its outstanding
news gathering and reporting in the Bay Area. In addition, the Radio-Television
News Directors Association chose NBC 11 as a regional winner of the prestigious
Edward R. Murrow Award, given annually to honor excellence in broadcast
journalism. NBC 11 also recently received 21 nominations for regional
EMMY awards, which recognized excellent journalism content.
