The IceHouse Youth Theatre
presents Jack and the Beanstalk & Mollie and the Last Bookworm
November 21 & 22
Mount Dora, FL: (November 10, 2009) -- The IceHouse Youth Theatre will present two performances of Jack and the Beanstalk and Mollie and the Last Bookworm at the IceHouse Theatre in Mount Dora. The two casts totaling 32 consist of talented youth ages 5-13 from Lake, Seminole, and Orange Counties.
Jack and the Beanstalk, performed by youth ages 5-9, is a musical adaptation of this favorite tale of young readers with Jack, a beanstalk that grows, a nasty Giant, and a very special goose. This will be the first part of the show and lasts 30 mins.
After intermission, young actors ages 10-13 will perform Mollie and the Last Bookworm, written by Michael Lancy, which tells the story of Mollie, a girl who hates to read. One day, in anger, she tosses a stack of books into the air and pages fly out everywhere. Suddenly, a bookworm enters in a frantic fit, followed by a pack of characters from all the books Mollie threw.
“We’re having a great time creating these familiar characters,” comments director Gail Bartell. “The students are also learning how to work as a team….how to be there for each other on stage.” She adds, “This is a great opportunity for kids to see other kids perform live on stage and for less than the price of a movie ticket!”
Both shows will perform together November 21 and 22, 2009; Saturday at 2:00 pm; Sunday at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $5 for all ages and can be purchased by calling our Box Office at 352-383-4616 or in person Tues.-Fri. 1-5pm. Performances will be at The IceHouse Theatre, 1100 N. Unser St., Mt. Dora, FL 32757.
