SUBSCRIPTIONS ON SALE NOW FOR SMT’S WINTER 2005-06 SEASON – Our most “moving” season ever!

Daytona Beach, FL, August 25, 2005 - Preparations have begun for Seaside Music Theater’s (SMT) most “moving” season ever, Winter 2005-06.   With two tender-hearted audience-pleasing musicals, SMT waves goodbye to its SMT Downtown stage and hello to its new one in the magnificent newly-built News-Journal Center.

First, SMT pays a heartfelt tribute to one of music’s most celebrated legends in Always…Patsy Cline, October 27 – November 20.  In this last theatrical production on this downtown stage, a stage that has held such characters as Roxie Hart, Groucho Marx, the Magical Mr. Mistofellees, Peter Rabbit, and Audrey II to name a few.  Now, SMT adds one final personality to SMT Downtown’s history with Patsy.   For individual show dates, click here!

Patsy’s voice, heart, and famous sense of humor are captured by SMT actress Darlin Barry, who has appeared in SMT’s productions of Oklahoma! (Aunt Eller), A Tale of Two Cities (Miss Pross), Ragtime (Houdini’s Mother), Honky Tonk Angels (Angela), and Nunsense (Sister Mary Regina).  Barry is not stranger to playing Patsy.

“The most rewarding thing about playing Patsy,” says Barry, “is when people say that I’ve brought her back for a few hours.”

Always…Patsy Cline features over 25 of Patsy’s songs and tells a touching story of friendship that properly gives SMT Downtown a sweet and celebratory ride into the sunset.

To celebrate the long-awaited move into its brand new News-Journal Center theater, SMT brings back by overwhelming popular demand its most raved about production ever – Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, which will run January 27 – February 5, 2006 at the new Center.  SMT’s production of Beauty and the Beast was cut short by an unexpected visit from Hurricane Charley in Summer 2004, and thousands of Central Florida residents missed their opportunity to see the magical, musical fairy tale called “a beauty of a show” by the Orlando Sentinel.  For individual show date, click here!

Now, SMT will perform an enhanced and even more spectacular production of the musical, bringing back favorite actors to rekindle the excitement the show brought to audiences two years ago.
