Boomer, a Queensland grouper measuring 5 feet long and weighing 120 pounds, has become the newest finned resident at Discovery Coves coral reef shark habitat. After outgrowing his home of 13 years, the Museum of Discovery & Science in Fort Lauderdale, Boomer has moved on to bigger digs where he even outsizes his new toothy neighbors. Groupers and sharks often reside together in aquariums, as both are carnivores. Guests can swim beside Boomer and the sharks in the coral reef that is part of Orlandos newest vacation destination, Discovery Cove. The park offers guests the opportunity to swim with dolphins, wade with rays, swim with tropical fish and hand-feed exotic birds. |
