2004 Season Schedule

Mark your calendars to unwind with the OMA the first Thursday of every month from 6-9 p.m. Explore themed exhibitions showcasing the work of local artists, listen to live music, mingle with an eclectic mix of people and taste flavorful cuisine by the hippest restaurants and caterers in town. Many events are complemented by demonstrations or activities related to the event's theme. Beer, wine and soft drinks are available at cash bars. Admission includes access to the OMA's permanent collections of American art, African art and art of the ancient Americas, as well as special traveling exhibitions. Title: "Mini Contempo"
Date: Thursday, June 3, 2004
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Cost: $8; free for OMA Members

This contemporary art event captures the imagination of the creative spirit on a small scale featuring works 12 inches by 12 inches and 16 inches by 16 inches. Fusian Japanese Eatery & Sushi Bar provides the edibles, the eclectic rock group Swansinger entertains and Downtown MINI displays their MINI Cooper cars.

Access to the OMA's featured exhibition Chihuly Across Florida: Masterworks in Glass is an additional $8. Parking is free at Orlando Loch Haven Park and overflow parking is available for $2 per vehicle at the Orlando Science Center's parking garage. Receive complimentary rides by Orlando Pedicab and Advertising.

Title: "Inspired: A Walk Through Paradise with André"
Date: Thursday, July 1, 2004
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Cost: $8; free for OMA Members
Due to the nature of this show, submissions are not being accepted.

Maitland Art Center faculty and staff honor the vision of the Center's founder, André Smith, and his intent to explore creativity in all its forms and to showcase the diverse cultural treasures in our community. Admission includes access to the OMA's Contemporary American Graphics Collection and permanent collections of American art, African art and art of the ancient Americas.

Title: "Blank Canvas"
Date: Thursday, August 5, 2004
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Cost: $8; free for OMA Members
Deadline for artists' submissions is Friday, July 9, 2004. All art mediums are encouraged, especially those that can be easily demonstrated. To be considered for this event, submissions must include a brief description of how the artist intends to "fill" his/her blank canvas that evening.

This event features works by 10 artists who will also show the artistic process by starting and finishing a work of art during the three-hour event. Admission includes access to the OMA's permanent collections of American art, African art and art of the ancient Americas.

Title: "Seasonal Allegory"
Date: Thursday, September 2, 2004
Time: 6-9 p.m.
Cost: $8; free for OMA Members
Deadline for artists' submissions is Friday, August 13, 2004. All art mediums are encouraged.

Enjoy an artistic representation of the four seasons through the artists' sensation or impression of a place, a time of day or a weather condition.
