Orlando
Predators head coach Fran Papasedero died in a car crash Thursday evening
when his car flipped over several times ejecting Papasedero from the car.
Friday, June
20, 2003 - Orlando, Florida
 |
Papasedero,
played 5 seasons in the AFL, playing for Albany, Massachusetts, St.
Louis and Nashville. He had 105 tackles and 10 1/2 sacks in his playing
career and joined (then head coach) Jay Gruden's staff in 1998 as
a line coach and was promoted to head coach just two days after Gruden
announced he was resigning as head coach to play quaterback for the
Predators.
In two seasons as head coach of the Predators he compiled a 22-13
record (including playoffs) and was considered one of the up and coming
head coaches in the Arena Football League. |
|
Born
in Boston, MA. Papasedero was an All-American defensive lineman
at Springfield (MA) College. Fran Papasedero was 34 years old and
leaves a two year old daughter. The Predators have requested in
lieu of flowers, donations be made to a trust fund established for
his daughter.

The
Orlando Predators
had a narrow excape on Sunday when they faced the New York Dragons
to advance in the Arena Football League Playoffs.
The
Pred's dominated most of the game, they led 42-18 at halftime, only
to face a huge rally from the Dragons.
|
|
The Orlando Preditors ended up pulling it off and won 69-62.
If
Jay Gruden leads the Preds to a championship, it will be the first
time that a player and coach would have won championships in the
NFL and AFL in the same year as reported by the USA Today.
