Yasukawa Ready for Indy 500 Qualifying
Week of Practice Boosts Rookies Confidence for Pole Day
Qualifying
for the 87th Indianapolis 500 will commence this Saturday, and Super Aguri
Fernandez Racing is hoping Mother Nature will cooperate as Fast
Friday practice the final full day of practice prior to Pole
Day begins today at 12:00 pm CT.
The team
began focusing on qualifying runs yesterday after spending the early part
of the week on race day setups. With five days of track time under his
belt, Roger Yasukawa continued to climb the speed charts. The rookie talent
posted the 15th fastest speed to date yesterday, logging a best lap of
228.913 mph (39.3163 seconds) aboard the #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone.
Roger Yasukawa,
Driver - #55 Panasonic ARTA Dallara/Honda/Firestone:
I am
very pleased with todays [Thursdays] result. We were able
to gather all the data from yesterday and put together a well-balanced
car. We improved a lot on our speed, and it was something we expected
over night. We ran a little bit of qualifying trim and I feel the car
will be fairly quick for qualifying. If the weather is good tomorrow [Friday],
we can try to improve on our qualifying setups. Otherwise, I am very happy
with how things are going.

competed in the Atlantic series last year, claiming a win at Milwaukee
and two additional podium finishes in a partial season of competition
resides in West Hollywood, California.
Tom Anderson,
Managing Director:
Today
[Thursday] was a very positive day as we moved into our qualifying setup.
Roger ran his best speed of the month at 228+ without a tow from a leading
car. I feel we have some more speed in hand, and have a good chance to
qualify in the top 10 on Saturday. I think we have had a great month so
far, and I am very pleased with the Honda engines performance and
reliability. We are looking forward to running our qualifying engine tomorrow
afternoon [Friday] although the weatherman says we may have rain. All
in all, I am sure Saturday will be a very exciting qualifying day.
