The Tampa Bay Buccaneers today announced that they have signed TE Casey Crawford to the 53-man roster and placed LB Ryan Nece on injured reserve. In addition, the team signed C Jason Scukanec to the practice squad. Crawford (6-6, 255), who was signed to Tampa Bays practice roster on September 10, was released by Carolina on September 1, 2002. He originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent with the Panthers on April 25, 2002. The third-year pro out of Virginia will wear jersey number 89. Nece, who signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent out of UCLA on April 22, played in all eight games for the Buccaneers in 2002 and ranks tied for second on the team with 11 special teams tackles. Scukanec, who played collegiately at BYU, entered the league as an undrafted free agent with Denver on April 29, 2002 before being released on August 27. He was then signed to the Broncos practice squad on September 4, before being released on September 17.
